Thank you so much for sharing! I think I mentioned the other day that Furuta may also be linked to the ‘king’ concept so here’s a small explanation behind Furuta’s birthday.
So basically since Furuta’s birthday is on February 29, a day which happens during leap year which is written as 閏年 in Japanese. For 閏, the character between 門 is 王 which means king; it’s not as direct as Arima and Kaneki’s birthday but it’s interesting to note.
Here’s something to think about: Even normal humans in Tokyo Ghoul are not truly “normal humans” because RC cells that the humans in TG produce do not actually exist.
Neither does ROC syndrome or super strong “humans” like Amon. Tokyo Ghoul is like an AU of if biology were just a little different.
It would be interesting to see how RC cells affect people… Maybe they give strength, and Amon has a lot of natural RC cells for a human?
@snarky-gourmet Had written a theory a while ago about how RC cells could be used as steroids, which would be interesting.
I’ve thought that about Amon too. But then I get confused. If he had a higher than normal RC cells why if he truly is “Floppy” would he be a limited success (here read surviving at least) floppy?
All the successful half-ghouls and even more successful “floppies” like Nashiro and Kurona have had either had below healthy limits of low RC cell counts for humans like Kaneki, Nashiro and Kurona or at least borderline low RC counts like Takizawa?
Ok, I have an idea – what if human RC cell distribution is like a bell curve and those on the either side, which makes up the smallest percentages, have the most success?
That could explain why Amon could’ve been a partial success and not-dead.

I feel like Shirazu’s conflict was never resolved.
By that, I mean his own inner turmoil with nutcracker. If anything,
I wanted him to grow and somehow progress from that. For the longest time
following her death, I think Shirazu felt like a monster. And that was a
conflict that tore him apart from the inside—he hated himself. I feel like he
died hating himself, feeling worse than he did before he entered the CCG. He
tried his best to justify what he did but couldn’t, and because of that, he couldn’t
ever forgive himself. He couldn’t find happiness because of that, and I feel
that inner hatred followed him to his grave. He was never able to forgive
himself
I agree – so that’s part of the reason that I hope he’s alive. Because if he became a half-ghoul, then it could provide an interesting dilemma.
Since if he’s an alive half-ghoul, and part of Aogiri, then he could be faced with being on the other side of life. Instead of being a CCG officer looking in on ghoul life, he could become an Aogiri officer (?) on the ghoul side, looking in on the lives of ghouls.
I totally forgot that his body was taken by Aogiri so this is certainly a possibility. I hope this happens, but if it does, I hope he doesn’t lose himself like Seidou has,
Definitely! As someone that adores both Seidpu and Shirazu, it would be tragic to lose both…
One eye king and little Kaneki when he played at stage.
And here I am thinking why ishida sensei made little Kaneki wore outer with three leaves symbol, almost like the king
He knows when Kaneki’s feeling down and he knows how to cheer him up, too
but I wonder… who’s there for Hide?
Obviously, he’d never go to Kaneki–that would be way too selfish Kaneki already has so much on his shoulders, after all and it’s not like Hide even has a reason to be sad, right?
Sure, he has other friends, but none as close as Kaneki…
… I just wonder how lonely Hide must have felt, even before Kaneki left
Ah yes! I’ve been wondering too! He I think is THE most mysterious character in Tokyo Ghoul, right up there with Arima We were never given his blood type or a lot of information unlike other characters when introduced. We know nothing and I mean nothing about his family except that in the anime he’s shown in a dark room in a house alone staring at a screen looking for Ken. What did this poor boy have to go through?

some of hirako’s omakes dealing with his neck and the death god tho..
1. “Let us fight. Even if the God of Death will point his blade at my throat.“
2. CCG’s God of Death killing a fly but it’s a strange composition, slashing X across Hirako’s neck. For such a simple omake, it would have been easy for Ishida to rework the awkward composition differently.
3. Hirako clutching his neck with Arima in the bg observing. “I felt death approaching” is Hirako’s comment about this scene.
Ooh, interesting post, thank you for posting this! :3c
I’ll just add another small tidbit that in the game TG Jail (Hirako doesn’t appear there tho), after you fight and beat Arima, you’ll be awarded a skill and trophy called ‘the Reaper’s Blade’ (死神の刃).
If you use said skill in battle, Arima appear for a short cutscene.
I checked the TG Jail book for Arima’s endings and they’re labelled ‘Reaper’s Blade’ as well (which means Ishida-sensei composed the name of the ending).
