People are saying Ishida’s Twitter Icon is probably the new cover for Tokyo Ghoul:RE Volume 6.
I’m like 98% sure it’s Furuta.
The sharp cut of the hair
The gloves
The gently squared jawline.
The masculine lip
Even the nose…
It just looks like him, and he would have an apple. It would help cement him as a more serious threat, and makes him look like even more of an asshole.
“Seeing that even Shachi fell down from Arima’s hands so easily… is Kaneki Ken, the One-Eyed King, the only one who can go up against him?”
Tbh, all we saw was a panel so we can’t really say if Shachi went down right away. Also, Shachi didn’t seem to be in tip-top condition either but we’ll just have to wait for more info about that.
But if we’re getting Arima vs Kaneki round 2, then Ishida-sensei’s probably gonna parallel that with V14 so… that’s around… 80 more chapters.
This is one of those minor world building details that never becomes relevant or even comes up again, but I love the implications of it.
It is apparently a common enough occurrence for punk ass brat humans to mess with ghoul investigators by pretending to be ghouls that it’s something Amon considers as a possibility when he first sees Kaneki.
Is this something Amon has actually encountered before? Is it something they have to train investigators to deal with?
I mean, the CCG protocol for ghouls is to kill on sight, making me think that they totally have had issues with this in the past and have to thoroughly educate all CCG personnel to wait for the kakugan or kagune because apparently, despite the fact that the CCG legally can and do kill ghouls in the street with no further investigation, human brats still like messing with them.
And what kind of humans do this, exactly? Why? Is it some kind of Yakuza initiation ritual? Despite the fact that CCG is a thing and ghoul attacks are on the news, ghouls still seem to be something many people either don’t know anything about or don’t totally believe in (which is another weird world-building detail entirely…) to the point where Fura and his delinquent friends are just completely uneducated about ghouls. So who the hell is messing with ghoul investigators like this?
Has a human ever come into HySy like “yeah, I plan on just fucking with some CCG goons, but I figured if I’m going to do this I should go all out and get a top quality mask. Hey, while I’m at it, maybe I should get those scleral tattoos you have, Mask Maker-san. Where’d you get them done?”
And that’s how Uta got that one bratty human killed by the CCG.
(Does the CCG ever accidentally kill humans, either because they are being that stupid or get caught in the crossfire? Is this a huge PR disaster? Or seen as the consequences of war? If nothing else, as an American, all of this speaks to the markedly different relationship that average Japanese people have with their law enforcement.)
I wish I had more time, I would answer this is such detail. But I have written a lot about it here, and here.
I would also say that a huge difference is that Juuzou is less impulsive, far more willing to abide by the rules (to an extent), and far more able to work well with others. I promise that I will write more Juuzou metas when I have more time!
Even more than sociable, I think what excites me about Juuzou is his ability as a leader. I mean, I never would have in 1 million years expected him to have a squad of his own, and not just to have a squad, but to win an actual CCG award for his squad. And his squad is incredible. They are talented, but they are also disciplined. They move in perfect formation, even moreso than Arima’s squad. They respect him so much, too, they all stand when he enters the room, and they even take things like his snacks super seriously. On top of that, he’s an incredible teacher. When he started with Tooru, the boy was cowardly and weak. Juuzou’s lessons not only allowed him to survive the Auction, but also gave him the strength, courage, and confidence to continue growing into the skilled, strong fighter that he is now.
Basically, Juuzou is smarter, stronger, more skilled, and more generous with his time and self than any other CCG investigator that I can think of, and I don’t think that anyone gives him the proper credit for that. I was just talking to my partner today about how I want to write meta about how intelligent Juuzou is. I see so many people talk about how he’s cute or weird or violent or so many other things, but people almost never talk about how he’s genius-level intelligent, a great teacher, a brilliant leader, and an admirable strategist.
Some of them get answers but I think there’s a question that might be never answered:
Why does so many character’s hair change the colour?
Arima:Dark blue – white
Yamori:Black – blond
Uta: Blond – black
Other CCG dude who got friends with Arima in Tokyo Ghoul:Jack whose name i’ve forgotten:Bright orange – deep black
( excluding Kaneki ‘cause we know why)
Well, I think I can answer some of those questions!
Starting with Fura, Arima’s friend, I think that he might’ve dyed his hair during his delinquent days and now that he’s an adult that works a serious job he reverted to his natural hair colour,
I think that Uta probaly bleached his hair when he was younger – that seems like an Uta thing to do, judging by his fashion sense.
Yamori had black hair in TG Jack, and had white hair when we see him after his torture
So his hair probably went white during it – after all, it was serious enough to create the sadistic “Jason” persona.
Arima is trickier – it seems that his hair gradually whitened during the years between him being 16 and 30 or so. After all, he went from
fully coloured hair
to slightly lightening hair,
to almost entirely white hair,
to fully white hair.
So, I think that he might have a disorder or is doing something to make his hair gradually whiten.
I also find it strange how her hair was colored darker here:
And it’s colored differently in the flashbacks:
Which would mean that Rize’s hair was probably white or of a much lighter color when she was younger. It’s possible that her hair grew with color thru the years or she got her hair colored.
If anyone really doubted Uta’s involvement and or possible future in the dark side of Tokyo Ghoul I’d show them this picture.
Uta facing Haise on a floor marked with the chessboard of death. Behind another chessboard paused mid game. (though at the time he was in a quiet battle of wills with Haise about whether he’d call him out for having ghoul eyes).
I always wonder who Uta was playing with, I have a picture in my head of Uta playing the game with Furuta.
Ishida was like: how we can let clear to this lil masochists shit is gonna get real in the future?
lol yep it’s right up there with the time Haise said “We’ll talk it out when we get back to the Chateau,” to Shirazu.
I wonder why a human nose tastes bad to Shikorae? Is he one of the picky ghouls? (Somehow I doubt that)
Or has Aogiri been feeding him something other than human? It might make sense if he’s the powerful JAIL, (who’s power is possibly having all 4 kagune type).
I suspect it wasn’t that it actually tasted bad, especially since he readily agrees to eat Hachikawa later.
More likely, it’s a childish insult. I mean, a Ghoul spitting you out and saying you taste bad would be pretty insulting.
