- fun concept, terrible execution
- started off enjoyable stupid, but just became insultingly stupid
- our “heroes” include…
- a “good girl” who we’re meant to see as “flawed but lovable” is really utterly insufferable, self-righteous bitch who is ALWAYS painted as the victim no matter what shit she pulls, and always manages to make everything all about her
- a “mean girl” who tbh isn’t NEARLY as bad as the “good girl” and yet always get presented as the bad guy in any given conflict
- a hunk with no personality
- and a “smart, deep guy” who’s really an insufferable prick
- when the heroes do something morally questionable, it’s justified, when anyone else does it? they should be burnt at the stake.
- characters changing personalities at the drop of a hat.
- CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT???? WHAT’S THAT?????
- “uh pretty sure that character should be expelled if not in jail but okay w/e i guess we can ignore it”
- everything is treated as oh so dramatic and important when it??? really isn’t????
- VILLAINS WITH ACTUAL MOTIVES???? NEVER HEARD OF HER
- pats itself on the back for LGBT representation that is shoddy at best
- “you’re not edgy and subversive, you’re just lame”
- tries to keep up with the Teen Culture but is just SO bad at it
- uncomfortable sexualization of characters that are allegedly minors (but are played by actors in their 20s….)
- bland, boring-ass ships with no chemistry that are treated as everyone’s favorite OTP by the writers
- there are no fans of the show, just fans of certain ships and characters
- fans constantly at each other’s throats
- constant romanticization of shitty behavior
- characters who showed no signs of attraction before just suddenly decide “oh i like you now!!!!” and start making out
- minor characters who could be interesting but get screwed over by the writer
- characters who act like high school is the be-all, end-all of everything???
- “okay kiddos you’ve been dating for THREE MONTHS, would you please chill out?”
- queerbait, queerbait everywhere
- all the POC and queer characters get sidelined for Whitey McHeteros
- you can tell the writers really don’t give a shit
- even the fans hate it
- the fandom seems to grow smaller by the day because every new episode has some bullshit that makes people give up on it
- and yet, despite all the above, people keep watching every damn week
