‘FOR ART’ IS NO EXCUSE TO TREAT PEOPLE LIKE THIS
Tippi Hedren deserves all the accolades for enduring Alfred Hitchcock. Not only did he have her mauled by good-sized live birds—one of which came within an inch or two of stabbing her in the eye with its beak—but he also stalked her, sexually harassed her, and, on at least one occasion, sexually assaulted her. When she told him she didn’t want to be in a relationship with him, he sent her daughter a doll that looked like Hedren. And it was dressed in an outfit that duplicated one Hedren’s character wore in The Birds. The doll arrived in a wooden box that resembled a coffin.
