i’d say this is the middle of japan, right? it’s the little elbow-bend where tokyo is and all of the nation’s main highways lead.
if you go as far west as you can go and then go north from there, you end up in this area. but that cant be the northwest, because to reach it from the middle, you have to go south.
if you go as far north as you can go, and then you go as west as you can go, you end up here. but that cant be the northwest either because to reach it from the middle, you have to go east.
Therefore, Japan has no northwest. Tell this to your dad.
