“why can’t female heroes kick arse in heels” because it’s not practical and will literally snap your damn ankle you can scream weaponised femininity all you want but first off, you need to admit that they’re not an almighty symbol of empowerment, and secondly that if you do a job with a lot of physical activity in heels you’re risking your own safety. all these women fighting in heels on tv are going to end up seriously injuring themselves.

Weaponized femininity is lipstick as red as the blood your enemy is spilling, not a broken ankle.

weaponised femininity is a concept made up in an attempt to get us to embrace the industries created to hold us back/profit from our insecurities so that we can continue to fit into the male expectation of what a woman should be and not question why we are forced to spend thousands on our appearance every year

yeah people only ever say that shit if they see one (1) female character that kicks ass and isnt in heels. right now most action heroines are feminine (or fake-butch, where they all spurt the “not like other girls” bs lines and “hate” feminine stuff but still have long hair and pretty clothes that fit their figure etc etc and so still fit the template)

i’d go further than that tho. cleavage doesnt really have a place in fighting scenes an breasts should be better supported and perhaps even compressed somewhat. armor shouldnt even have titty pockets in the first place. if the character has to hold/rip/tie their skirts to fight, then that shouldnt be the action heroine’s main wardrobe. etc etc (also im gonna put a stop right now to say kicking ass =/= being badass, and seduction/commanding/just being a good friend dont count for this, though those topics are their own posts in themselves) and also, does the character really kick ass all the time if theyre always the damsel in distress? kidnap/kill/disable a man for once jfc

theres nothing particularly wrong with weaponized femininity but not only is it done completely wrong, its pretty much the only weaponized anything that women in action media get (as opposed to, yknow. just a normal weapon and maybe some actual armor/protective gear. and nothing else) and if there were more variation, i’d be cool with a woman wearing lipstick as red as the blood of her enemies. or wearing catsuits and heels (in appropriate scenes) or once in a blue moon being caught in battle right after having to wear fancy clothes and fixing them to make them easier to move in. but its the only thing out there right now, give me some grungy women or goblin women or fat women or anything that isnt just “god shes so sexy and also she punched a dude that one time”
