A Pup Named Scooby-Doo (misc. character notes, etc.)

canonstitute:

Wrote some comparisons and thoughts on these guys as kids after rewatching episode one of APNSD + some other episodes of other Scooby series (plural), definitely possible I’ll do it again with more observations as I re-review this canon because there is so much of it and I must truly hate myself

anyway yeah this whole show is like just the gang, only, bab. some fared better than others

Fred

  • Episode
role (from onset): 1. believes in exaggerated paranormal theories, extremely fixated
on initial thought process / unable to process new evidence to modify
his guesses. Butt of many jokes about ridiculous beliefs.
  • Episode
role: 2. Holds a grudge against childhood bully / antagonist Red
Herring to the point of blindness and warping facts reality to call him
    guilty
  • Kind of useless and terrible at mystery-solving. aggressive / less inclined to fearfulness, ‘leader’ traits are there.
  • an…odd
characterization to derive from the very practical, open-minded Fred in
SDWAY but there’s a case for it; at both ages Fred is very focused.
  • ^younger
Fred moreso on “proving” a conclusion he’s drawn, or jumping to wilder
ones and not letting go of earlier dropped threads
  • ^^contrast
older fred: making very few assumptions, open-minded – focus is to find
the truth and that’s always his priority. mostly by helping the others
find evidence to put the pieces together
  • Fred’s of a crybaby about pain, surprisingly; not sure if it’s recurring or Red did hurt him that badly with bike

[rest under cut for length]
