A scrapped tarot/portrait of Arima that I decided to tidy up anyway bc ch67 set my heart on fire and kicked it down a flight of stairs.

In the story of tarot, the Fool sees figure upon a white horse in the distance, which he instantly recognizes as Death. Upon approaching, he quietly asks “have I died?”

The figure, a skeleton clad in black armor, answers: “Yes, but only in a certain way. You have sacrificed your old self and your own world– they are both gone and dead. Keep in mind, however, that old leaves must wither and fall before a tree can blossom once more.”

As Death rides away, the Fool understands that all great transformations must begin with a clean slate to make room for new growth.
