As a writer, all the time! Holding that many narrative threads is incredibly difficult, and I rarely find anything resembling an oversight or a mistake. I don’t know if he has some kind of incredible system of organization or what, but I assume that he must. I like to imagine Ishida has a room with like hundreds of manga panels on the walls and red yarns connecting them, like a detective.
I honestly don’t know how he holds that many narrative threads, gives so many subtle clues without making anything obvious, constantly subverts expectations, layers symbols from world mythologies, tarot, flowers, and various cultures…..it’s amazing. He’s amazing. Honestly, there’s no author that I admire more.
If I ever meet him I’ll probably throw up.
