So it turns out Mado is Akira’s mother’s family name, and it seems like Akira’s grandfather (or, technically it could be her grandmother, I supposed) was (or is) an associate special class instructor at the academy. So the Mado family is a CCG legacy family.

Oh Kureo, I still hate your guts for everything you put Hinami through and your disgusting obsession with collecting dead ghoul parts, but this is such an adorable little fact. He took his wife’s family name and passed that name on to his daughter. That’s so sweet.

Also, casual reminder that Mado Kureo is semi-canonically hunting ghouls in hell right now while Mrs. and Dr. Fueguchi are in heaven having a nice cup of coffee. So at least there’s that?
