Narration: To Aogiri’s island!
Several CCG boats arrive at Rushima. The CCG Investigators that have touched down are immediately shot at by ghouls.
CCG Random: Gaaaah… gobu (TN: sounds of dying I think)
Up on the cliff above the shore, there are a number of ghouls.
Ghoul Random: Aim at the Doves where they land! We need to cut down their numbers as much as possible!
Ghouls: Yessir!
However, right after this, the ghouls are attacked. Houji already had his Quinque ready.
Ghoul Random: It’s Houji that destroyed the Red Tongue Company!
Ghoul Random: Attack while they are reloading!
A group of ghouls leap at Houji to attack, but are taken down by other Investigators.
Ui: As if we would give assholes like you a chance to attack, fools!
-Suzuya Side-
Suzuya’s squad advance further ahead. A communication from other investigators reaches them.
CCG Random: Su… Suzuya Special Class! Your squad is advancing too far- the groups behind are-
But Suzuya is not listening to the transmission.
Suzuya: Mizuroo, aim behind Otogai. There’s one that hasn’t been killed yet.
Mizuroo: Yessir!
CCG Random: Back into position…
Suzuya continued to ignore the transmission. He sees a ghoul standing still in the distance. That ghoul’s mask has a thing on top of it like a chicken’s comb.
Suzuya: That’s their leader over there.
-On the beach-
Marude is giving orders.
Marude: Our defensive position is starting to slacken! Unit 1-3 quickly speed on ahead! Forget about whatever Suzuya’s squad is doing! When half of the first unit arrives, the rest invades! The third unit is to follow suit!
Next to Marude, Matsuri speaks to Urie.
Matsuri: Urie, clean up the beach.
Urie: … yessir.
-The Quinx Squad on the Beach-
Urie:(thinking) Dealing with the aftermath huh… what a boring fucking job to be stuck with.
Urie: Jin… it’s time to finish off what’s left of the little malnourished ghouls.
The whole Quinx squad activates their kakugan and face the ghouls.
Urie: (thinking) We can finish this in 5 minutes. I am going to save Mutsuki.
“As of the early morning on December 13, our troops have engaged in battle. Our Mainland Defence Group has remained so that they can’t attack us while we are engaged in battle elsewhere. Also we have a “Ghoul” who we believe to be their leader imprisoned, so we are to be extra careful and take the greatest of precautions.”
While this announcement is heard inside the building, Sasaki enters, flanked by strong-looking guards. Sasaki comes to a standstill in front of a Solitary Confinement cell. There is no-one inside, but for a moment he sees his own figure.
-Flashback-
Kaneki sits on a bench, muttering under his breath.
“Number 240, it’s time for dinner.”
Kaneki pushes away the tray and jumps at the food hatch.
Kaneki: AS IF I WANT THAT!!!! LET ME OUT LET ME OUT LEMME OUT LEMME LEMME LEMME AHHHHHHHHH, HAHA, LEMME….. I have to… I have to save…
Kaneki continues to scratch at the door, even though his fingernails are coming off. Arima is watching him.
Arima: They’re dead, all of them.
A guard yells “Special Class Arima, you can go in–” but he ignores it and enters the cell anyway.
Arima: I killed them all.
Kaneki panics. Awawa, awa! What- what? Wh- whaah hahahaha, what why? Where?! Then?! I am… I I-I am….. I I I I am….. Who am I?
Arima walks down the corridor and calls out to Haizaki.
Arima: Warden, number 240, has he always been like that?
Haizaki: Yes, he cries at night, worse than a colicky baby. He calls out in his sleep as if he is having nightmares. He digs at his eyeballs until they get infected. He won’t eat either. If it continues like this he will die from weakness.
Arima: I see.
Later, Arima turns up at Kaneki’s cell and puts some novels through the hatch. He says if it’s not enough he will bring more, and leaves.
Some time later, Kaneki and Arima talk across a table.
Arima: You need a name.
Kaneki: A name?
Kaneki answers this with a wide-eyes expression, as if he has been possessed by an evil spirit.
Arima: Your “Rehabilitation Program” requires that you become a CCG Investigator. We can’t keep calling you Number 240.
Kaneki: What would be suitable? Isn’t a name something that someone else decides for you?
Arima: I’m going to leave it up to you.
Kaneki: Even if you say that to me…
Arima: Well, just choose two kanji that you like then.
Kaneki points to two words in a newspaper.
Arima: Coffee and World huh. How about “Haise”?
Kaneki writes down the words on paper. “Hasie… yes, I like it. Thank you Arima-san.”
He smiles at Arima, and Arima looks back with an expression akin to pity.

Ayato appears with what appears to be a Cochlea keycard with the number 2 on it. Good to get into the first 2 levels probably? I guess he’s trying to sneak in.
