I love how Ishida can make characters look older without completely changing them.

coromoor:

saaaame, Akira is actually one of my favourite characters for this, especially on her trump card which features 2 versions of herself mirrored

the subtle changes in the jawline becoming more pronounced, the nose lengthening, the cheekbones appearing as the young chubby cheeks go away, and the weary eyes.

its the same with family members- I think Ishida does an amazing job of making relatives appear similar without giving them same-face

snarky-gourmet:

I do not understand at all where people who are saying “Akira has been reduced to nothing but a weak character/damsel in distress/etc” are coming from. Can we take a step back and remember that just because someone needs to be saved, does not mean they are weak? Can we recall that this is /Seidou/ she was up against? Who had just offed Tatara, 2nd in command in Aogiri, and Houji, a Special Class officer? Seidou, who plucks people’s heads off left and right as easily as it is to lift an apple? Who before this, even Sasaki had issues with?
Akira is not weak, nor has her character been reduced to anything akin to simply a damsel in need of a strong muscle-man to save her 24-7. Seidou is literally just really hecking strong? Please stop throwing these assumptions about to justify any hate you may have.

kenkamishiro:

Some more spoiler text (take with a grain of salt):

  • Seidou kicks Amon. Amon appears to be weaker than Seidou.
  • Akira looks androgynous. (not really sure what they mean by this)
  • Seidou starts talking about Kanou. Kanou used to be co-workers with Akira’s father and worked on experiments and the like.

hysyartmaskstudio:

Speaking of tarot, though, while I had my tarot number goggles on, I spotted this from the end of last week’s chapter:

That’s almost certainly an intentional 2 on Akira’s ear there.

2 being the High Priestess, linked with femininity and, most crucially for Mado, intuition.

It can also be linked to the innately nurturing powers of the “feminine subconscious”, which in the situation might be a good thing. Akira could use anything that’ll help her reach the parts of Takizawa that still care.

(The last time the High Priestess appeared, it was in association with Yomo’s desire to protect his sister’s children and in relation to her continued impact on him.)

littlemissymonster:

I can’t be happy with Takizawa jumping on Tatara’s back and seemingly stopping him from killing Hoji.

Because I know this fight ends up no matter what with Takizawa trying to strangle Akira.

And I know whatever journey that takes will be painful.
(unless he’s not and last week’s image was a trick as they never showed Takizawa’s arm directly connected to Akira’s throat).
