capitalists right now are terrified of the spectre of “automation”, which is, ostensibly, an incredibly good thing.

capitalists are writing articles that say “Machines Are Going To Replace All Low-Income Jobs” as if this is somehow a bad thing to be happening

machines taking the grunt work and doing it for us? order takers at restaurants being replaced by tablets? unnecessary work being done for us, automatically? these are all GREAT things!

but under capitalism, this reveals a fatal flaw; the poor cannot exist, cannot subsist, without being fed scraps by the rich. when our jobs are replaced by robots, the rich man has no reason, any longer, to hand us those scraps.

in an ideal world, robots doing trash collection and janitorial work and other such jobs would be a good thing. but under capitalism, it means the decimation and further poverty of the working people.

things im tired of:

  • the evil stepmom trope
  • the im not like other girls because i don’t like skirts, makeup or fro-yo trope
  • any trope that makes girls who like fashion and make-up seem stuck up, stupid, slutty and mean
  • the popular girl wants to socially destroy anyone who tries to get in between her and popularity trope
  • the i hang out with guys because it’s less drama than girls trope
  • the we’re best friends but im the girl your boyfriend cheated on you with because i was jealous of you’re relationship trope
  • literally any trope that has girls hate each other for NO REASON other than to portray all girls as jealous, petty and catty instead of portraying girls having each others backs and protecting each other

A porcupine’s Halloween present (+ original sound effects)

I had no idea giant porcupines made fucking precious sounds

THAT’S THE SOUND IT MAKES!?!?!?

UN-BE-FUCKING-LIEVABLE

We got asked if this is cute and okay. I can very happily say yes, this is stupid cute and those are happy porcupine noises.

One of my favorite things about doing zoo work was all the noises you never realize the animals make when they’re excited or interested in a new thing. Coatimundis squeak and snuffle, and giant porcupines make that sound.

Omgggg the sounds.

Teddy is back on my dash and all is right with the world

I’m working earlier and this guy comes in and seems anxious. We usually wait until people need help to ask, but he comes over and tells me, “I’m cosplaying Bowser and need spiked wristbands.” I immediately start heading towards the jewelry / accessories and try to strike up some friendly conversation

I respond, “Ah, cool. You doing NonCon at all?” remembering that our local convention is this coming weekend.

He looks at me super seriously and replies, “no, my friends and I are going go-karting downstairs and we’re all dressed up as Mario Kart characters.”

Retail, although very rarely, has its perks.

Jic case you thought I was lying

Sometimes, the world is so full of beauty…
